I doubt grilling charcoal will be a primary driver of deforestation. I assume the sources are byproducts from whatever harvesting there is going on. If there is a place on the planet that can regrow trees, it's the rainforest. A little research on the manufacturer of the product you bought may yield...

I waited until yesterday since the appetizers added up to too much food to also eat prime rib. It turned out well. If I had it to do over i would have left it to sear in the oven longer.

I'm sure it would cook fine, but I would have to reprime it etc and then empty the hopper and burn it out, vacuum the ahes and clean it . Not fun at that temperature.
